EU Open House
From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., the German Embassy will open its doors to visitors as part of the second EU Open House. On this day visitors will have the unique opportunity to take a closer look inside European embassies and, of course, into European life and culture. At the German Embassy Washingtonians will be welcomed with a colorful and multifold entertainement program. For families with kids it will be an especially great day. Children can get their faces painted, win prizes at a soccer kick, and the older ones can check out the exhibits from various German businesses and institutions with their families.

Saturday, May 3
Dedication of Joe Pozell Square
By proclamation, the “Joe Pozell Square Designation Act of 2007” law (L17-38), a ceremony will be held at the intersection of M and Wisconsin to dedicate that intersection “Joe Pozell Square.”  Jack Evans, MPD Chief Lanier, Chief Ramsey (Current Chief of the Philadelphia Police Dept), Asst. Chief Patrick Burke, Mayor Fenty, Ella Pozell and community leaders to make remarks. Other Councilmembers expected. Signs reading “Joe Pozell Square,” attached to poles at M and Wisconsin Avenue will be unveiled. Ceremony to start at 3 PM just south of M and Wisconsin. The intersection of M and Wisconsin to be closed for approximately 10 minutes at 3:45 PM. MPD will handle traffic and crowd control.

Jewish Sites in Arlington National Cemetery
12:30 - 3:00 pm – Tour sites related to Jewish history and military heroes, including the Confederate Memorial by Sir Moses Ezekiel.  This tour includes a bit of walking.  Led by Les Bergen, Ernie Marcus, and Rabbi Marvin Bash. Open House at Jackson Art Center
The Jackson Art Center in Georgetown, on R Street NW between 31st and Avon Place, will be open from 12 noon to 5 p.m., and you will be able to visit the artists in their studios and view their work which will be for sale.

Dreams and Shadows
ROBIN WRIGHT, foreign correspondent for The Washington Post, will discuss and sign her new book, DREAMS AND SHADOWS: The Future of the Middle East, at a luncheon program at the Woman’s National Democratic Club, co-sponsored by the English-Speaking Union of the Nation’s Capital. The program begins with cocktails at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served at 12:15 p.m.
