Move Me: Celebrating the Performing Arts (photos)


The Move Me Festival, hosted by Bowen McCauley Dance, is a free, family-friendly celebration of the arts and culture, promoting healthy lifestyles through movement and the arts. The 8th annual edition of the festival, featuring multiple performances by local arts partners on three stages, took place Saturday, March 25, at the Kenmore Middle School in Arlington, Virginia. The event, which started in 2009, attracts hundreds of children, adults and seniors throughout Northern Virginia and provides an afternoon of activities and entertainment.

Particpants at this year’s event included Bowen McCauley Dance, the Maryland Youth Ballet, BalletNova Center for Dance, Adagio Ballet and Dance School, Dance Asia Alliance, the Arlingtones Barbershop Chorus, Halau O’Aulani, Educational Theatre Company, Old Dominion Cloggers, Encore Stage and Studio, Adagio Jazz, Carlin Springs Junior Residency, Kenmore Junior Residency, Kenmore Dance for Parkinson’s Disease and Dovie Thomason (Stories of the First Nations).

“I believe that dance is for everyone, regardless of age or ability,” proclaims event host and founder Lucy Bowen McCauley.
