Countdown to Inauguration Day

Tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 20, is Inauguration Day.

Need to know where to park your tour bus? Perhaps you’d like to review the rules and regulations for demonstrations. Thanks to Mayor Muriel Bowser and other D.C. government entities, all this and more (notably street closures and parking restrictions), plus an interactive map, is now easily accessible at a special webpage: inauguration.dc.gov.

A clock on the page is counting down the hours and minutes to midnight, though the official events of Inauguration Day don’t begin until 9:30 a.m. (musical performances at the west front of the Capitol). The big swear-in is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A good spot to watch the live broadcast is the William G. McGowan Theater at the National Archives, a few blocks away at 700 Pennsylvania Ave. NW. After lunch, the Inaugural Parade is supposed to start heading down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House at 3 p.m.

D.C.’s official inauguration Twitter handle, by the way, is @Inaug2017.

Live streaming of the ceremonies, and many other entertaining features, may be found online at inaugural.senate.gov. You will note that, though Donald John Trump is the 45th President of the United States, this is the 58th Presidential Inauguration. Enjoy!
