Armed Robberies at Trail Entrance in Georgetown

Two recent armed robberies in the same Georgetown location — by the abutment of the old Aqueduct Bridge, near K and 34th Streets NW and an entrance to the Capital Crescent Trail — were reported to U.S. Park Police. There were no injuries.

The first occurred Friday, Jan. 6, shortly after 8 p.m. and the second Wednesday, Jan. 11, around 3 p.m. The victims’ descriptions of the robbers were similar: three teenage black males in the first robbery and two, possibly older, in the second; the tallest wearing a mask. In both cases, the weapons were said to be a machine gun and a handgun. (The Washington Post story noted that “stress and other factors sometimes impair the accuracy of descriptions given by crime victims.”)
