David Hawkins, head of education at the Kreeger Museum, will lead a special architectural tour of the museum’s iconic building. Designed by Philip Johnson and Richard Foster in 1963 and completed in 1967, the space and its rhythms are compelling, surprising and undeniably unique. This year the museum is marking the building’s 50th anniversary.

The energy-filled National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade runs for 10 blocks along Constitution Avenue. The National Park Service and the 11th Street Bridge Park present the third annual Anacostia River Festival, a premier event of the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This year’s program will have a special focus on biking in the District and will celebrate the new extension of the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail to Bladensburg, Maryland. In addition to activities in the park, including a 3 p.m. bike parade, and special displays by local businesses on Good Hope Road, there will be live music, fashion, and art at the Anacostia Arts Center. The Historic Anacostia Boating Association Eastern Power Boat Club is hosting boat cruises on the river from 1 to 4 p.m.
