The Georgetown University football Hoyas won decisively over the Davidson Wildcats on Saturday Sept. 3 at Cooper Field in the season opener for both teams. Senior quarterback Tim Barnes completed 25 of his 33 passing attempts and threw for 4 touchdown passes. The Hoyas broke the game open by scoring 28 straight points in the 2nd and third quarters. Running back Alex Valles ran for 96 yards on 11 carries to lead the ground attack. Rob Sgarlata is entering his third years as Hoyas Head Coach. In an emotional moment, Ty Williams, who was seriously injured in a game a year ago, received a standing ovation as he participated in the coin toss.

The Hoyas travel next week to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to face Marist College. Their next home game will be Sept. 24th against Columbia.
