Washington International Horse Show Celebrates 58th Year (photos)


The Washington International Horse Show, one of the leading equestrian events in the country, celebrated its 58th year Oct. 25 to 30 at the Verizon Center, attracting leading horses and riders from around the world, including several members of the U. S. Olympic silver-winning show-jumping team, with more than $480,000 in prize money. In the key events, Lauren Hough and her horse Ohlala won the $130,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix on Saturday night; Aaron Vale with Finou and McLain Ward on ZZ Top each cleared the seven-foot puissance wall to tie for first place on Friday. Andrew Kocher as an evil-looking clown won first prize for best costume in the crowd-pleasing pre-Halloween Gamblers Choice on Thursday.
