Volta Park Day: Softball, Hot Dogs, Bluegrass Band and Halloween

The annual celebration of Volta Park — Georgetown’s well-used public park, with a pool, tennis courts and a tot lot — got into gear Sunday, Oct. 30, the day before Halloween. Presented by the Friends of Volta Park, the late-afternoon gathering included games, rides, a bluegrass band — Jake and the Burtones — along with hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks. Many of the young children on hand participated in a Halloween costume contest, and all got a prize. If you haven’t heard, the softball game between the west side and the east side of Georgetown ended in … a tie.
