Games by German designers are enjoying increasing popularity outside their native country. This evening of board and card games, in cooperation with Labyrinth Games and Puzzles, will feature classics such as Bohnanza alongside newer favorites including Alhambra, Tigris & Euphrates and Settlers of Catan. Participants are invited to bring their favorite games and friends for the fun. One room will be reserved for playing games in German. Please note: Games will be played until 8:30 p.m., but arrival by 7 p.m. is suggested to ensure sufficient playing time. Admission will be charged at the door. Drinks and snacks will be offered.

**Halloween Screen Print Teaser**

This hands-on interactive workshop, open to adults and teenagers age 16 and above, will introduce participants to the exciting art of screen printing. Resident printmaker Jun Lee will give a brief overview of the screen printing process from selecting a design and setting up a screen to finishing a print. Participants will try their hand at screen printing their own treat bags with a selection of Halloween inspired designs created by Jun. No experience is required and all materials are included in the fee.

Visitors to this year’s St. Nicholas Cathedral Bazaar can tuck into Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian and Serbian food while watching a variety of Slavic folk music and dance performances. After trying some blini, pirozhki or golubsty, with a poppy seed pastry for dessert, the options include Christmas shopping in the gift shop, touring the cathedral and listening to Orthodox-related lectures. There are also activities for kids such as face painting and crafts. Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Two-star Michelin chef Gérard Pangaud will lead a demonstration cooking class featuring seasonal, French cuisine. Proprietor of award-winning restaurants in Paris, New York and D.C., chef Pangaud will teach participants to create a menu and prepare a three-course dinner. His lessons are peppered with his trademark humor, stories of the old world and dozens of invaluable tips for novice and experienced cooks alike. In chef Gerard’s kitchen, the creative use of taste and technique trump the mechanical allegiance to the cookbook — a process that’s not only fun and stimulating, but produces delicious results. For each class, chef Pangaud searches his wine cellar for perfect pairings and provides two selections of wine.

The opening concert in the Dumbarton Concerts series will take the audience to 16th- and 17th-century Italy for an evening of vocal gems by the undisputed masters of the Italian madrigal: Monteverdi and Palestrina. Music Director Scott Tucker traces the evolution of the madrigal form as it crosses Europe, including early settings and two 20th-century arrangements by Morten Lauridsen and Jacob Druckman.
