In the Spirit of St. Francis, a Blessing of the Animals at St. John’s

The sun came out on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 2, as St. John’s Episcopal Church, Georgetown Parish, held its annual Blessing of the Animals service on the front lawn in celebration of the Feast Day of Saint Francis. The mood was jovial as Rector Gini Gerbasi and Associate Rector Sarah Duggin gave an individual blessing to the well-behaved dogs in attendance and remembered those pets who have departed. Blessed medals were distributed and liver treats provided by Courtney Stamm of Cheeky Puppy above Dupont Circle were definitely a highlight for the honorees.
