Georgetown Hoyas Defeat Crosstown Rival Howard 85-72 (photos)


The Georgetown Hoyas (3-4) defeated crosstown rival Howard University 85-72 (0-5) in men’s basketball action at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. on Sunday November 27.. The Hoyas had taken a 16-0 lead and never looked back. The Bison, who were playing without last year’s national leading scorer James Daniel III, could get no closer than 8 points back with 7 minutes to go in the game. Georgetown shot exceeding well from three point range over Howard’s zone defense. The Hoyas shot 49 percent and made 13 of 28 (46 percent) 3-point attempts. Rodney Pryor led the Hoyas with 26 points while James Miller topped the Bison scoring with 30 points. Georgetown junior forward Akoy Agau played one of his best games with 14 points, six rebounds, 5 assists, a block and a steal.

The Hoyas return to the Verizon Center on Wednesday, November 30th against Coppin State. Howard next goes up against American University on Saturday, Dec. 3 at their Burr Gymnasium.
