Congressional Republicans Triumph … in Baseball (photos)

The Congressional Republicans won 8-7 with two runs in the last inning to break a seven-game losing streak in the 55th annual Congressional Game for Charity at Nationals Park on June 23. The Democrats had rallied late from a four-run deficit to take a one-run advantage, leading to the dramatic finish when Rep. Tom Rooney (R-Fla.) stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off line single to right field with two outs to drive in Bob Dold (R-Ill.) with the winning run. This game is serious hardball, played under strict rules. The affair began just hours after both sides faced off at the Capitol on gun control legislation that lasted into the wee hours of the morning, and concluded with a 25-hour sit-in by House Democrats.
