The Goethe-Institute, your German island in D.C., is hosting Sommerfest, a summer party at its new building. This year marks the 10th year of Honfleur Gallery’s exhibition dedicated to artists who live, work or have roots in Wards 7 and 8. The gallery has assembled a retrospective by inviting an artist from each of the past nine years and an emerging new artist to the exhibition, adding up to 10 artists for 10 years.

The Montgomery College Jazz Ensemble, a 15-piece band under the direction of Professor Alvin Trask, will play a mix of Big Band and modern jazz music in Glen Echo’s Bumper Car Pavilion. Attendees can bring a picnic dinner or purchase food at Praline at Glen Echo. The Dentzel Carousel will be open from 7 to 9 p.m. for $1.25 per ride.
