National Mall Comes to Life after 16 Day Shutdown (photos)


The government is back open after a 16-day shutdown (at least for 90 days). On Wednesday night, Oct. 16, only an hour and a half before the United States would have been forced to default on its loans, the House of Representatives passed a measure to extend the debt ceiling and end the shutdown.
