The Summer of ‘58, and More cover

The beginning of summer is a good time for reflection and as I write this I am reflecting back 10, 20, 30, 40 even 50 years. What was I doing in the summer of 1958?

In the summer of 1958, I was almost five years old and getting ready to start kindergarten. My only memories are of laying in the yard at night looking up at the sky to see anything moving. It was the summer after Sputnik and the question on everyone’s mind was what’s up there? I spent my summers at Harry’s Lake, Pennsylvania. My memories are mostly good

Curtain Call by Hillary

fp

At the end of her campaign for the 2008 Democratic Party Presidential Nomination Campaign, nothing delighted Hillary Rodham Clinton more than the thought of leaving of it.

At the National Building Museum, before several thousand of her supporters, volunteers, campaign workers, most of them women, some of them openly crying, a considerable number still angry and visibly disappointed, Clinton officially closed her campaign by unequivocally endorsing the victor and her rival Barack Obama....  [more]

Still “Waiting for Godot fp

“Waiting for Godot” is a play about two tramps waiting every day for someone named Godot. He never comes. But of course, he always returns. Or rather, the play is never far from the back of a director’s mind somewhere, a fluttering memory of a theater-goer and the thick lore of the theater itself and as a kind of underground popular culture reference.... “The Visit” fp

There’s enough theater glitz in “The Visit” at Signature Theater that they should really have put up a really, really big Broadway sign,  something that says Great White Way the way it used to. There are legends here.
